How to combat acne naturally
Acne is one of the most common skin problems in the world and can affect people of any age. Acne starts with overproduction of sebum, that is oily secretion keeping your skin naturally hydrated and protected from outside bacteria. When there is too much production of sebum on your skin it can lead to acne. Other factors like a build up of dead skin cells on the surface block the pores and create acne. This combination creates a perfect environment for acne-causing bacteria – Propionibacterium acnes. This is why good exfoliation routine is very important as well as anti-bacterial moisturisers.
Tea Tree
Tea Tree Oil is extracted from the leaves of the Australian tea tree and itis a natural antiseptic ingredient and widely used in skincare. It can help counteract bacteria and microbial growth making it especially useful in the battle against acne prone skin.
Research has shown that the application of a 5% concentration of tea tree oil can reduce pimples that people with acne usually experience.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is the liquid produced in the seed of the Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba Oil is beneficial in treating acne as it has been shown to decrease inflammation on acne.
One theory behind jojoba oil is that because it is technically a wax ester instead of an oil it resembles human sebum and can balance it. So when you apply jojoba oil, your skin gets the message that it doesn’t need to produce more sebum.
